RACV has entered a new partnership with Netgear that will allow the automobile insurer to resell the California-based company's home-networking and smart-home products to its home insurance members across Victoria.
“With an RACV member in approximately 60% of households across Victoria, it is important [that] we cater to a variety of needs within the home,” said Susan Allen, RACV home executive general manager. “The evolution of smart-home technology has meant we were keen to find a partner with an established background in this space.”
Starting May, RACV will initially resell Netgear’s Arlo Pro 2 Smart Security camera, along with a promotional service plan that includes an additional $129 of value in the first year after purchase, plus further incentives for home insurance members, CRN reported.
“Our members may want to use the Arlo Camera to check-in on their children when they get home from school or keep a watchful eye on their pet throughout their workday,” Allen said.
The camera is weather-resistant and wireless, with 1080p video with pinch-to-zoom capability, a plug-in solar panel power option, and support for voice services like Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Its features also include a 130-degree field of view, night vision, and advanced motion-detection technology, CRN said.
