Insurer RACQ has helped bring a roving medical clinic and a portable member branch to regional Queensland this week to provide Dalby locals with valuable city services.

The RACQ-sponsored Heart of Australia road-train will enable Dalby patients to meet with specialists for life-saving cardiac and endocrine testing, while RACQ's Mobile Member Centre will enable them to access vehicle health checks.

Both vehicles will be parked in Jimbour St, Dalby Thursday from 9am to 4pm and Friday from 9am to 12pm.

“We’re proud of the fact we can help Dalby residents can get their heart health tested, while also getting the health of their car engines checked,” said David Contarini, RACQ head of community and education. “Vehicle inspections are on offer for everyone, free of charge, regardless of whether they’re an RACQ member or not.”

Rolf Gomes, founder of Heart of Australia, said it was important that Queensland residents will be able to get critical specialist medical services wherever they are in the state.

“Previous data shows people in regional areas are 44% more likely to die from a heart attack than city dwellers,” Gomes said. “We urge anyone who hasn’t had regular check-ups or has any concerns to visit their local GP for a referral and then book in an appointment with specialists on board the Heart of Australia bus.”
