The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) is set to conclude its 30-year tenure as the primary sponsor of LifeFlight Rescue on June 30, following a new funding initiative by the State Government.
This change ends what RACQ stated was the longest corporate partnership in the region, with significant financial contributions exceeding $50 million since 2010.
RACQ group CEO David Carter acknowledged a fruitful collaboration, emphasising the shared goal of delivering top-notch medical services to Queenslanders in distress.
“RACQ and LifeFlight have always shared a vision and commitment to help Queenslanders in times of need by ensuring access to the very best medical service,” he said. “We remain just as proud today as we were all those years ago to have our brand associated with such a purpose-driven cause which makes a vital difference to the lives of many Queenslanders.
“We are honoured to have created a historic legacy, and we're looking forward to seeing the service continue to expand their capabilities through their new funding agreement with the Queensland Government.”
The introduction of a $586.1 million funding boost from the Queensland Government over the next decade signifies a pivotal moment for LifeFlight. The move is aimed at providing a stable financial foundation for its operations, transitioning from its historical dependence on corporate backing to government support.

“We are incredibly grateful to RACQ for its unwavering support and a shared commitment to save lives,” he said. “The partnership with RACQ has enabled LifeFlight to help more than 81,000 people. It's an incredible milestone few companies can claim and is testament to the strength, leadership, and dedication of two leading Queensland organisations to support communities 24/7 and provide outstanding aeromedical care.
“While it’s the end of an era as our naming rights sponsor, we are continuing to explore new partnership opportunities with RACQ which could see continued investment and support for Queensland communities.”
