Coinciding with the start of the fire danger season across much of SA, RAA Insurance has opened applications for the sixth consecutive round of grants to help rural communities combat bushfire and other safety risks.
David Nankervis, communications account manager at RAA Insurance, said the grants have supported 87 regional community groups since 2013, funding many deserving projects “that have involved fire safety, road safety, security, medical equipment, and children’s education.”

This financial year, the funding for individual safety grants has doubled to a maximum $10,000, which means “RAA is better able to support bushfire prevention and safety initiatives, as well as other safety projects,” Nankervis said.
Not-for-profit organisations, community groups, schools, and registered charities with a project or activity that will improve safety in their local area can apply for the RAA Regional Safety Grants – ranging from $500 to $10,000 – until November 30 at 5pm.
