Insurer RAA has opened applications for the eighth consecutive round of grants to support those directly affected by bushfire and other safety risks in regional South Australia.
The latest round of grants, worth a total $50,000, is open to not-for-profit organisations, community groups, schools, and registered charities with a project or activity that will improve safety in their local area. Individual grants range from $500 to $10,000.
Shaun Ryan, RAA Insurance spokesman, said the grants have supported more than 100 regional community groups since 2013.
“As well as supporting many deserving bushfire-safety projects over the years, RAA has also funded grassroots projects for road safety, security, medical equipment, and children’s education,’’ Ryan said. “In 2017, the maximum value for individual grants was doubled to $10,000 to better support bushfire prevention and other safety initiatives our communities told us mattered to them. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been distributed to community projects through previous grants, from Big Swamp on Eyre Peninsula to Millicent in the state’s South East.’’
Nominations close on Dec. 02. at 9am.
