A security leader at a major Australian bank is set to take up a global role at QBE Insurance.

Andrew Dell, chief information security officer (CISO) at National Australian Bank (NAB), will join QBE as global CISO on Aug. 15, after eight years with the bank.

The move comes as part of NAB's new security restructure, which will see the bank's various security functions, including physical, fraud, cyber, and infosec, come together under one division.

Dell will replace Claude Mandy as QBE's global CISO. Mandy left the organisation in March to take a career break and relocate with his family to Silicon Valley, California, CIO Australia reported.

Dell will report directly to Matt Mansour, recently appointed global chief information officer.

Dell joined NAB in 2010 as manager of security integration management. He became head of IT security services operation in 2012 and head of cyber security in 2016, before being appointed to the CISO role later that year. Prior to NAB, Dell was a security advisor for Victoria Police.
