Insurer
QBE has announced its sponsorship of the first indigenous fellow for the New Colombo Plan (NCP) scholarship program, at an event hosted by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.
As QBE's first indigenous NCP scholar, Miles Archibald from Guyra will be travelling and studying in South Korea and will be provided by the insurer with a range of professional development opportunities.
“QBE is one of the largest underwriters in the indigenous community, and we’re so proud to sponsor the first indigenous NCP fellow,” said Sally Kincaid, QBE Australia and New Zealand chief HR officer. “Miles has already demonstrated he is not just a talented student, but has pursued opportunities in the corporate world. He has already expressed a keen interest in international business, having joined study tours to Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong.”
Kincaid said the company looks forward to supporting Archibald and the other NCP fellows as they take this next step in their career development.
Established in 2014, NCP is a government initiative that aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake professional experiences in the region.
As an active champion of NCP's cause, QBE participates in the program's interview panel and hosts interns, who Kincaid said “are a valuable source of talent and innovative thinking.”
