QBE Australia has raised a total of $14,534 through its Birds for Good initiative to boost wildlife conservation efforts at long-time partner Taronga Conservation Society Australia.
The initiative, which ran throughout the month of October, saw the insurer pledging to match all public donations made at the QBE Free-flight Bird Show, increasing the overall donation amount to $29,068 – nearly double the amount raised in October last year.
The donation will be used to fund Taronga Foundation’s important projects, including the organisation’s breeding efforts and restoring resilient landscapes for the Regent Honey Eater, one of Taronga’s 10 legacy species, which it’s dedicating the next decade to help conserve.
QBE has now contributed a total of $22,378 toward Taronga’s vital wildlife conservation work through Birds for Good fundraising efforts.
“We’re incredibly proud of our 14-year partnership with the Taronga Conservation Society and our alignment to the iconic QBE Free-flight Bird Show, which once again proved to be a huge success with visitors awed by the array of fantastic birds and their abilities,” said Sara Foale, QBE’s chief marketing officer. “The success of the show and the generosity of the public was directly reflected in the donation total we were able to match. The conservation work undertaken by Taronga is something we wholeheartedly support.”
