Insurer QBE's Australia-Pacific philanthropic arm has awarded The Kids’ Cancer Project with a $5,400 donation following its Goals for Good shootout at Saturday’s Super Netball match between the NSW Swifts and the Melbourne Vixens.
The QBE Foundation donated $300 to the charity for every goal scored during the half-time shootout in a show of support for The Kids’ Cancer Project’s Crazy Hair & Sock initiative, with Under 12s player Hayley Martin scoring a total of 12 goals during the sixty-second shootout, raising $5,400 dollars.
“Goals for Good helps us bring to life the QBE Foundation’s mission to partner with not-for-profits to help protect vulnerable communities,” said Vivek Bhatia, QBE Australia Pacific CEO. “Both QBE and our partners the NSW Swifts are proud and long-time supporters of The Kids’ Cancer Project and we’re pleased to once again join forces to support their critical and life-changing research efforts.”
“Thank you to the QBE Foundation and the NSW Swifts for your ongoing support,” said Owen Finegan, CEO of The Kids’ Cancer Project. “Funds raised at the match will support medical research, better treatments, building capabilities, and the development of survivorship programs – all vital to our mission to end childhood cancer.”
The Kids’ Cancer Project has been an official charity partner of the QBE Foundation since 2015, supporting the charity with financial contributions, employee volunteering, fundraising support, and other initiatives to help raise awareness for our cause.
