Specialist insurance company PPS Mutual today announced the appointment of Anthony Asher (pictured) to its board of directors, effective immediately.
Asher brings a notable background in actuarial science within the financial services sector. His appointment is expected to advance PPS Mutual’s strategic vision and long-term goals.
Michael Pillemer, chief executive of PPS Mutual, said Asher has a deep understanding of life insurance and wealth management. Pillemer also highlighted Asher’s academic and research contributions.

In addition to his new role at PPS Mutual, Asher serves as an associate professor at UNSW Business School, director of the non-profit organization Fresh Hope Communities, and is actively involved in Actuaries Institute committees. His career includes board roles at several financial institutions, such as his position as chief actuary for prudential in South Africa. Asher has also held roles at APRA and Deloitte in Australia, providing consulting services to the life, wealth management, and superannuation industries.
