Point Insurance, an accident and sickness underwriting agency, has appointed former Hollard Distribution executive Jono Edwards as its new director of distribution – a newly created role.
Before joining Point Insurance, Edwards spent 12 years with Hollard Insurance, where he led broker relationships for the Select and Hollard Commercial Insurance businesses.
Point Insurance managing director David Fogarty said the appointment of a director of distribution could help the agency achieve its growth potential.
“In the current market conditions, agencies like ours, which are not under rate pressure, are in a great position to support distribution in a meaningful way,” Fogarty said.
“Jono has a terrific reputation in the market. There are strong synergies with his former employment, including existing relationships with our partners Envest and Blue Zebra.”
Since its foundation in 2015, Point Insurance has thrived in the accident and sickness insurance space – growing 30% year on year.
Edwards said he is looking forward to working with the solution-focused agency and an undervalued broker product.
“Point is a really strong product and agency,” Edwards said. “The foundations have been laid, and now, my primary focus is to grow the existing portfolio via both targeted new business campaigns and partnering with brokers to cross-sell PA on the back of their current client base. Additionally, my role is to further enhance Point's presence in the market.”
