PetSure has opened applications for the Future Vets Kids Camp (FVKC) Scholarship to help young animal lovers attend a five-day school holiday program designed and run by veterinarians.
To be held in January, the PetSure FVKC is a veterinary-inspired school holiday program in Sydney that teaches children aged 9 to 16 years about responsible pet ownership, including the basics of veterinary medicine and animal welfare.
The scholarship will see the recipients learn about different animal-related professions, genetic diseases, pet nutrition, surgery, animal rescue, wildlife conservation, exotic animals, and the key role of pet insurance in improving pet healthcare outcomes. It will also enable some students to visit the University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital & Clinical Skills Centre for an exclusive behind-the-scenes excursion.
“We're thrilled to support Future Vet Kids Camp in 2024 by offering three scholarships to young aspiring students to support the next generation of vets. The Future Vet Kids Camp (FVKC) provides kids with an exciting and practical opportunity to learn about animal health and professions,” said PetSure CEO Alex Thomas.
The 2024 Future Vet Kids Camp will be held over two separate weeks:
Applications are open until Dec. 10. Interested applicants must submit a short three- to five-minute video outlining why they would like to attend the 2024 camp.
Entries must be submitted directly to the FVKC team via email and then judged by a PetSure and Future Vet Kids Camp expert panel. Winners will receive notification from the pet insurer one week after the application closing date.
In other news, PetSure received a license from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority to operate as a general insurer under the Insurance Act 1973, making it the first general insurer in Australia dedicated to pet health insurance.
