PartnerRe has appointed André Piché as president of the company’s Canadian life & health operations, effective May 19, 2020.
As president of Canadian life & health, Piché will assume overall responsibility for the business. He will report to PartnerRe North America Life CEO Alan Ryder.
Piché first joined PartnerRe in 2012, and he most recently served as chief business development officer for life & health in Canada. In that role, he helped drive the growth and profitability of PartnerRe’s business in the region.
“André has been instrumental in the growth of our Canadian business. He has successfully led our business development resulting in strong client relationships, an increase in PartnerRe’s market position and the development of our portfolio,” said Ryder. “I am confident that under André’s leadership our Canadian business will continue to deliver on our commitments to provide our clients with the reinsurance solutions and service they value and our shareholders with attractive returns. I wish André every success in his new role.”
Earlier this month, it was announced that the acquisition of the Bermuda-based PartnerRe by French mutual insurance group Covéa would not close. PartnerRe had posted a net loss attributable to common shareholders of US$433 million for Q1 2020.
