Twelve grants of $5,000 each will be available, with clubs encouraged to use the funding to host events such as gala days or family activities to build connections in their local areas.

Commenting on the partnership with NRMA, Australian cricketer Nathan Lyon shared his perspective on the importance of community cricket.

“Community cricket is where I planted my roots. I learnt so much in those years playing for my local clubs in … New South Wales and Canberra, especially the importance of teamwork and enjoying the game,” he said.

He emphasised how these early experiences fostered his passion for cricket and helped build enduring friendships.

“I made some great friends, and we were a close-knit community who supported each other through the wins and losses, both on and off the cricket field,” Lyon said.

Michelle Klein, NRMA Insurance’s chief customer and marketing officer, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting communities.

“Helping our customers and their communities is at the heart of A Help Company. It is wonderful to have another opportunity to see first-hand the positive impact our cricket grants can have to further support local cricket clubs and communities,” she said.

NRMA Insurance joins Nine as Olympic Games broadcast partner

The launch of the 2024 Community Cricket Club Grants Program comes on the heels of NRMA’s partnership with Nine to support the network’s coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The partnership marks NRMA’s debut as a sponsor of an Olympic broadcast.

As the exclusive insurance partner for Nine’s Olympic programming, NRMA contributed to coverage spanning free-to-air television, digital platforms, and radio. This collaboration was facilitated by Initiative Media and was part of Nine’s strategy to deliver its most expansive Olympic coverage yet.

Nine holds exclusive national rights to broadcast the games in Australia, ensuring audiences can access comprehensive coverage through multiple channels. This partnership highlights NRMA’s commitment to engaging with Australian communities on a national level.
