Insurance Australia Group (IAG) brand NRMA Insurance (NRMA), named by Brand Finance Australia the strongest insurance brand in Australia for 2022, has teamed up with Google Maps to launch a world-first initiative for boat owners.
Named Ramp Rater, the initiative provides detailed new imagery of boat ramps to Google Street View and 360°, enabling boat owners to pre-prepare and navigate their way safely down the boat ramp. NRMA will then stamp the images with its difficulty rating to help boat owners understand the difficulty level before visiting a ramp at their destination.
“What's more helpful than knowing the best ramp to take your boat to? It's simple, easy to use, strongly linked to human use of Google and keeps our customers safer by rating boat ramps from beginner to advanced,” said Zara Curtis, executive manager, content and customer engagement, at NRMA, as reported by Market Screener.
Ramp Rater is part of NRMA's first-ever boat campaign to encourage Australians to protect their vessels on and off the water across Australia.
To date, the initiative has been rolled out across 44 ramps in the country. In addition, it allows the insurer to help provide utility in other areas of Google Maps, such as caravan parks, bike trails, 4WD tracks, and areas needing help.
The announcement of the initiative came after NRMA's partnership with not-for-profit donation platform GIVIT to support people in New South Wales (NSW) South Coast impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through the insurer's COVID-19 Relief Program.
