A new McGrath Cancer Care Nurse specialising in Neuroendocrine cancer care will soon provide critical support to patients and families in Western Australia, thanks to a $450,000 funding commitment from NRMA Insurance

This initiative is part of the McGrath Foundation’s broader move to extend its services beyond breast cancer to all types of cancer. Specifically, the newly funded position will deliver personalised care to patients and their families, helping them navigate the complexities of treatment.

“Our nurses are experts in care, helping patients and their families navigate the complexities of treatment while offering invaluable emotional support. The continued support from NRMA Insurance enables us to expand our reach and ensure more people across Australia receive the care they need,” McGrath Foundation president Glenn McGrath said.

This marks the third McGrath Cancer Care Nurse funded by NRMA Insurance, following earlier commitments to support Helen Moore at Calvary Mater Newcastle in New South Wales and Kate Williams at Naracoorte Health Service in South Australia.

Michelle Klein, insurance chief customer and marketing officer at NRMA, noted the increasing demand for specialised cancer care in Australia: “It’s estimated there will be around 169,500 cases of cancer diagnosed in Australia this year, and the need for specialised care continues to grow. The vital support offered by McGrath Cancer Care Nurses makes an incredible difference for those impacted by cancer and their families.”

This new funding positions NRMA Insurance as the first corporate partner to support a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse since the foundation’s expansion to cover all cancer types. For over two decades, the McGrath Foundation has provided free cancer care services across the country, ensuring no referral is required to access care.
