John Mutton, managing principal at InterRISK in Victoria, has today been crowned the
NIBA Broker of the Year award at the 2014 convention.
He edged out competition from Greg Rynenberg of East West Insurance Brokers, QLD; Rick Post of Centrewest Insurance Brokers, WA; Tony Bourke (AIIB, NSW); and Tony De Conno of De Conno & Blanco Insurance Brokers, SA.
As part of his prize, Mutton wins a $20,000 all-expenses-paid business development trip to the USA, courtesy of
Zurich Australia. The trip includes the opportunity to attend the
Zurich Classic of New Orleans golf event on the PGA Tour and New Orleans Jazz Festival.
Speaking from a family holiday in Disneyland in USA, Mutton spoke of his gratitude to receive the award, and attributed the win to hard work.
Zurich was crowned General Insurer of the Year for the second consecutive year, fending off competition from
QBE and
CGU. Fourteen votes separated Zurich and third-placed
CGU.
Meanwhile, Terry Lane of Midland Insurance Brokers, VIC, won the Lex McKeown Trophy. He has attended all but one of the 32 annual NIBA conventions and was a founding director of NIBA when it formed in 1982 and played an integral role in the creation of NIBA College 10 years later.
Donald Keast of Oxley Insurance Brokers, NSW, scooped the NIBA College Trainee of the Year award.
Brendan Zanoni of OAMPS, QLD was named NIBA College Student of the Year and wins a $1,000 prize and a place on award sponsor QBE’s acclaimed eQuip program.
Adele May, Willis, QLD won the coveted
Vero-sponsored Warren Tickle Memorial Award, beating competition from Shane Brady (Sear Insurance Brokers, VIC); Adam Hines (Gibbscorp, NSW); Cassandra Pearce (IAA, SA); and Cameron Dee (
