Last week, National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) president Gary Okely and chief executive officer Richard Klipin traveled to Canberra to engage with key government figures on the pressing issues of insurance affordability and accessibility.

Representing the collective voice of the insurance broking profession, Okely and Klipin engaged with the assistant treasurer and minister for Financial Services, the Honorable Stephen Jones MP.

The NIBA leaders are looking forward to legislative developments following the Quality of Advice Review, anticipating a draft that could propose significant changes to the regulatory landscape.

In addition, the recent final report by Dr. Daniel Mulino, chair of the House Standing Committee on Economics, regarding insurers' responses to the 2022 floods, was acknowledged by NIBA. The report is seen as a vital step toward improving industry practices with its 86 recommendations.

“NIBA looks forward to working with government, so insurance brokers continue to be positioned as trusted partners that serve Australian families, businesses and communities to manage risk and thrive,” NIBA said in a statement.
