The award recognises the notable achievements of senior brokers who have shown commitment, expertise, and integrity in their field.
Commenting on the sponsorship, NIBA CEO Phil Kewin – who will step down from his role this year – emphasised the alignment of values between NIBA and CGU in fostering innovation and excellence within the broking community.
“We are delighted to welcome CGU as the new sponsor for the Broker of the Year Award. This partnership exemplifies our shared commitment to fostering professionalism, innovation, and excellence within the insurance broking community,” he said.
Commenting on the partnership with NIBA, CGU executive general manager Damien Gallagher highlighted the role brokers play in advising and guiding clients through risk management and protection.
“With NIBA playing such an integral role in advancing the skills and expertise of brokers, we are delighted to be sponsoring this year’s awards, which celebrate excellence and the significant contributions of brokers to our industry,” he said. “The primary function of a broker is to offer guidance to individuals and businesses, assisting them in effectively managing and protecting their unique risks. The importance of intermediary advice is deeply ingrained in the insurance industry and vital to maintaining a strong economy. Brokers lie at the heart of CGU’s ambition to be their number one insurer partner, and our growth is inherently tied to the trust brokers place in our people, products, and service.”
Pegah Vaghaye, executive manager of broker relationships at CGU, noted the daily engagement with brokers and the unique value they bring to the industry.
“We engage with brokers every day and experience first-hand the value that a broker creates. Sponsoring the NIBA Broker of the Year award is one way that we can celebrate broker ambition and the critical role they play in strengthening our communities and keeping customers protected,” she said.
