Australian healthcare fund nib Health Funds (nib) has launched a new health membership to help Australians live healthier lives.
According to nib's research, young people aged between 18 and 44 refused to prioritise purchasing private health insurance, but were interested in personalised health benefits. Specifically, the participants said they could see themselves purchasing health insurance in the future, such as when they are ready to start a family or their income changes. However, they said they do not see the product's value now that they are still young and healthy. At the same time, they showed a keen interest in low-cost health and wellness alternatives.
Claimed to be an industry first, nib's GreenPass membership provides access to exclusive health and wellness benefits without taking out a traditional health insurance product. Some benefits include personalised health plans, discounts on health and wellness services, rewards for reaching health goals, an online skin check, fitness tracking, and exclusive pricing with nib's network of providers.

Ed Close, nib chief executive – Australian residents health insurance, described GreenPass as a game-changer for the industry, enabling Australians to access the right tools, services, and information to support their health better.
“By making membership as much about supporting good health as the treatment of sickness and injury, we have an opportunity to play a bigger role in how we help more Australians to keep healthy and out of [the] hospital,” Close said.
“With this in mind, we created nib GreenPass, which is intentionally created to empower people of all ages to better understand their health profile and offer health and wellness perks and services they can use every day to keep on top of their health.”
The Basic GreenPass is free to all Australians, while an Advanced GreenPass costs $4.99 per month.
