Health insurer nib has extended its principal sponsorship of the Newcastle Knights for a further three seasons, until the end of the 2022 season.
Mark Fitzgibbon, nib managing director, said the sponsorship signifies nib’s continued commitment to the people of Newcastle and the Hunter region, understanding the vital role sport plays in the community.
“We’ve been there since the very beginning working closely with the club,” Fitzgibbon said. “It’s a strong partnership that is an important part of our overall brand strategy, providing great exposure in what is a traditional rugby league heartland. And while a lot of our growth and business expansion in recent years has been outside of the region, nib remains as committed as ever to supporting our local communities. Like many of our Hunter-based members, we take great pride in the Newcastle Knights and while recent success hasn’t been to everyone’s liking, we think the future looks much healthier.”
“nib has a heritage in the Hunter and a long-standing association with the club,” said Philip Gardner, Knights CEO. “Like the Knights, nib is part of the fabric of our region. To have nib remain on the front of a jersey that represents the region is not only wonderful for the team but is important for the town. We would like to thank nib for their continued support and look forward to a successful future together.”
