MLC Life Insurance, an Australian-led and managed life insurance business established in 1886, has appointed new leaders to its retail distribution team.
The strategic hires will sharpen the insurer’s focus on providing stronger partnership support to licensees and advisers. All have significant industry expertise in retail insurance and strong partnership credentials.
Lee Cheesman has been appointed as head of retail distribution governance and key accounts. He brings over 30-years of experience to the role and has a strong background in distribution, sales, account management, advice, compliance, risk management and operations.
Cheesman is no stranger to MLC. He joined the group 20 years ago when he moved to Australia from the UK. Over two decades, he held various roles at MLC Wealth, growing in seniority from practice development manager to national insurance retention manager, head of advice development, and head of strategic growth advice. Prior to taking the new role with MLC Life Insurance, Cheesman led the MLC Advice Licensee Partnership Program.
Also joining the leadership team is Justine Marquet, who will take the position of senior manager of retail distribution strategy, enablement and capability (secondment). She has over 25-years of experience in the life insurance industry and is currently the head of product technical services and regulatory change at MLC Life Insurance.
“I’m delighted that both Lee and Justine are joining us,” said Michael Downey, general manager of retail distribution partnerships. “They are highly qualified and experienced insurance industry professionals with a passion for improving our partnerships with advisers and licensees. Their expertise will be important in supporting our strategic direction and to deliver on the promises we make to our customers and business partners.”
