In partnership with SA-based super fund Statewide, MetLife has developed a digital life insurance claims platform that will allow superannuation members to lodge and track life insurance claims easier and faster.
The platform, built using “open insurance” application programming interface (API) technology, enable members to scan and upload documents from their smartphone or tablet, and log in and track the progress of their claim anytime and anywhere. Claimants using the platform will also be given a dedicated claims manager who will handle their claim from end to end. Using the platform, a simple income protection claim can take less than 15 minutes to complete.
“We’ve worked closely with funds, members, and administrators and applied customer-centric design principles to develop an intuitive experience making it faster and easier to lodge and track a claim,” said Jeremy Simmons, MetLife chief marketing officer. “This gives claimants greater control, certainty, and transparency when they need these most.”
Tony D’Alessandro, Statewide Super’s general manager of member engagement, said the new digital claims process deliver the best possible outcomes to claimants, “providing efficiencies and the opportunity for an instant update at any stage of the claims process.”
“We are hoping that by streamlining the application process we are able to take a little bit of the stress out of the situation for those at a time when they most need it most,” D’Alessandro said.
