A Victoria-based man who allegedly sold bogus insurance policies has been ordered to stand trial on five counts of dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception.
Samuel Tessa is set to stand trial for two weeks starting on November 25, in the County Court of Victoria, for allegedly conning individuals or small businesses in the Melbourne automotive-repair industry out of money on the pretense that payments were required for insurance premiums when no insurance policy was taken out.
Tessa pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted conditional bail.
The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions is prosecuting the matter.
