Marsh & McLennan Companies has appointed John Doyle as CEO of
Marsh. He will replace outgoing Peter Zaffino and will report to
Marsh & McLennan Companies President & CEO Dan Glaser.
Doyle has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and has significant global management and operational experience. He was appointed president of Marsh in April. As president and CEO, he will continue to supervise the firm’s global brokerage business and also take responsibility for global risk and specialities.
“John’s accomplishments and impressive track record of building strong client relationships and inspiring colleagues make him ideal to serve as president & CEO of Marsh,” said Dan Glaser, president & CEO of Marsh & McLennan Companies in a statement. “Today’s appointment delivers on our strategic commitment to having the deepest and most talented executive leadership team in the industry.”
Outgoing CEO Peter Zaffino has accepted a leadership role at
AIG. Zaffino served as CEO of Marsh since 2011, and as chairman of risk and insurance services since 2015.

Before joining Marsh & McLennan in 2016, Doyle was CEO for AIG’s commercial insurance businesses worldwide. He oversaw AIG’s property, casualty, financial lines, specialty lines, institutional markets, and mortgage guaranty products and services.
Marsh also announced the Peter Hearn, president and CEO of
Guy Carpenter, will report directly Glaser and join Marsh’s executive committee. The post of chairman of risk and insurance services will not be filled.
