Three major insurers are among the sponsors of Nine’s Australian Open broadcast this year, with one of them sponsoring the event for the first time.

The Australian Open, which started yesterday, is the first of the four tennis Grand Slam events in 2022 – with Nine securing the official broadcast rights for the Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

For this year's event, AAMI, Chubb Insurance (Chubb), and ANZ joined other major brands such as Kia, Samsung, Uber Eats, Visit Victoria, APT, Chemist Warehouse, Peters, and Stan as Nine's major partners and sponsors.

Commenting on the event, Anne Gruber, head of content partnerships – sport at Nine, said via AdNews: “The power of Nine's Wide World of Sports is unmatched. In 2022, more brands will experience the unrivalled WWOS ecosystem through content specifically tailored to their needs across multiple platforms to ensure their objectives are met. No other media business can offer the assets to achieve this, the depth of knowledge, or the prestige of an iconic brand such as WWOS.”

AAMI and ANZ returned as sponsors of the event, while Chubb is one of the new brands that decided to sponsor it by taking up the media company's AO Extender packages. Other brands that took up the packages were Bondi Sands, Ralph Lauren, and Safety Culture.

Crytpo.com, HCF, Microsoft, Peloton, TikTok, and Cancer Council Australia have also invested in the event for the first time.

“We are also excited to see a number of new brands in Visit Victoria, Safety Culture, and Chubb Insurance, but also to have the likes of our ongoing supporters Kia, Uber Eats, and ANZ return this year,” said Matt Granger, director of sales – sport at Nine, as reported by AdNews.

“It speaks to both the power of tennis to engage millions of Australians in one place but also the incredible January launchpad that the Australian Open is for brands.”
