HDI-Gerling has announced their latest hire with a senior addition to an already burgeoning team.
Joel Mitchell will join the firm as senior underwriting manager for the Northern region of the company and will be based in the insurer’s Sydney office, it has been announced.
The appointment of Mitchell follows
a move from March this year which saw the global marine head of the company, Kai Bruggemann, take up a role in the Sydney office permanently.
Stefan Feldmann, managing director of HDI-Gerling Australasia, said the move helps cement an already strong marine team in Australia.
“Following several exciting developments for HDI-Gerling in Australia and globally, we are also pleased to welcome Joel on board our marine team. We now have all hands on deck to seize upon the opportunities of the Australasian marine markets,” Feldmann said.

Mitchell specialises in cargo, carries and hull segments of the marine business and has previously worked with
Chubb Insurance in Sydney alongside experience with
QBE Marine and Associated Marine (now
Zurich).
