A major industry conference by the Council of Australian Life Insurers (CALI) will bring together life insurers, policymakers, and consumer advocates to address growing concerns about underinsurance and gaps in public awareness of coverage.
The Wild For Life 2025 conference will take place at Taronga Zoo in Sydney on April 2, focusing on how insurers can better support women, younger generations, and people facing mental health challenges.
CALI CEO Christine Cupitt said the discussion is critical, with about 3.4 million Australians lacking adequate income protection coverage. She also noted a significant gap in awareness. with only one in three working Australians knowing the details of their life insurance coverage.
“We are at a pivotal moment. That’s why we’re looking beyond the horizon to understand the changing needs of all Australians,” Cupitt said.
The conference will feature discussions with industry experts and a panel dedicated to improving life insurance services for women. Among the speakers are gender equality advocate Jamila Rizvi, Aware Super CEO Deanne Stewart, financial adviser Trish Gregory, and social researcher Dr. Rebecca Huntley.
“Wild For Life 2025 isn’t just another industry event – it’s a call to action. This conference will challenge us to think bigger and act bolder in how life insurance serves Australians. With real conversations, real collaboration, and real outcomes, this is a unique opportunity to drive lasting change,” MLC Life Insurance CEO Kent Griffin said.
As part of the event, CALI will also launch its 2025 review of the Life Code, with a workshop aimed at shaping how the framework can better support Australians experiencing mental health challenges.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for attendees from all parts of the life insurance ecosystem to influence the future of the Life Code,” Cupitt said.
