Brisbane law firm Barry Nilsson Lawyers has promoted Donal Keenan to senior associate in the insurance and health team.
Keenan has been with the firm for more than two years and specialises in the area of professional indemnity.
He has seven years’ experience in commercial litigation and professional indemnity insurance and began his career as a solicitor in Ireland before moving to Australia in 2004.
Keenan is a member of the firm’s professional indemnity team and advises clients in the areas of professional negligence, directors’ and officers’ and employment practices claims.
He also mentors junior team members and is responsible for managing a number of large claims.
BNL has also appointed Tracey Wood to solicitor. Wood joins the firm after a 20-year career in construction in a variety of roles including: structural engineer, project manager and contract manager, most recently with engineering firm Sinclair Knight Merz. Wood has also been involved in defending professional indemnity claims against engineers.
The law firm said that with Wood’s knowledge the firm’s clients will benefit from her ability to identify areas of a matter that require further review at an early stage. She will also be able to analyse the proposed engineering solutions and advise on areas of concern early on in a dispute.
