A professional services company has appointed a senior global insurance and wealth executive to its global strategy group.
Joining
KPMG Australia as head of its specialist insurance and wealth management practice is Tim Thomas, a market-entry expert with more than 20 years of experience in strategic leadership, corporate development, and operational management roles in the Asia-Pacific market.
Thomas was most recently regional vice-president of strategy and corporate development of Prudential Financial's Asia-Pacific operations; and was also CEO of Prudential’s Malaysia life insurance operations and
AXA’s chief representative in India.
Thomas' team was also joined by senior leader, Maurice van den Heuval, who moved from KPMG's Netherlands' insurance strategy practice, bringing with him more than 15 years' experience working as a management consultant in the financial services sector, specialising in the intersection between strategy and execution in the insurance sector.
Thomas said his team will assist insurance and wealth executives to navigate “through the current political and market uncertainties,” and “make bold leadership decisions that strengthen performance whilst positioning for longer-term success.”
“The Australian insurance and wealth management market is going through an unprecedented period of change in client expectations, political and regulatory pressure, M&A, and technological advancement,” Thomas said. “Firms in Australia are increasingly looking to global experiences and non-traditional capabilities to build sustainability into their business models.”
