A major reinsurance brokerage has strengthened its position as a leading sports risk advisor in Australia by teaming up with the nation's governing body for professional and amateur cricket.
JLT, a leader in the business of sport risk in Australia with more than 30 years of specialist insight and the largest dedicated risk team in the country, has entered into a partnership with Cricket Australia, making it the official risk partner of both Cricket Australia and the AFL – two of the nation's favourite sports.
“We are delighted to support Cricket Australia and contribute to an integral part of Australia’s sporting culture at the elite and grassroots levels,” said
Leo Demer, CEO, JLT Australia and New Zealand. “Supporting the game that unites and inspires Australians of many ages and cultures is important to JLT. The partnership with Cricket Australia highlights our shared values of hard work, ingenuity, and collaboration.”
The deal allowed JLT to secure the naming rights for two much-anticipated cricket events – the Sheffield Shield, now renamed the JLT Sheffield Shield, and the JLT One-Day Cup. The Shield will commence on Oct. 26 in Brisbane, while the JLT One-Day Cup will start Sept. 27, also in Brisbane.
“Cricket Australia and JLT have a longstanding relationship and we are excited to be strengthening this partnership and aligning JLT with our premier domestic product through the support of the JLT Sheffield Shield,” said Cricket Australia CEO James Southerland.
“No matter what the sport, JLT’s role is to support and protect the game and its players,” Demer said. “We look forward to working with Cricket Australia and using our deep risk expertise to empower and grow the game.”
