JLT has held an industry-first panel discussion to help clients in the New South Wales workers’ compensation market.
The panel discussion, which also featured representatives from both icare and EML, came amid changes to the workers’ compensation sector in the state. Panellists included: John Nagle, group executive of workers’ insurance at icare; Mark Coyne, chief executive of EML; and Georgie Ahern, national manager of JLT.
The discussion answered client questions about the changes, with a distinct focus on injury prevention.

“Our new claims service model focuses on employers and workers being empowered and having more choice. We are shifting the power from processes back to people … creating a simplified, consistent and empathetic system alongside our main claims partner,” Nagle said at the event.
Nagle noted that the transition process to the new system is open to feedback and consultation, and encouraged organisations to create an effective system by challenging existing processes.
With consultation still taken into account, organisations can expect more “tweaks” to the system during the transition, Nagle said.
