JLT Australia has unveiled the three recipients of a scholarship named in honour of Stephen Ball.

The Stephen Ball Emerging Talent Scholarship has been created by JLT Australia as a celebration of the life of one of the insurance industries favourite sons and will see three employees receive a personalised development experience that will help their growth in the insurance industry.

Three emerging leaders have been recognised this year as Jacqueline Milson, national customer engagement manager, Recovre, Jamie Rigoli and James Harmer, both account managers at JLT Australia, were celebrated at a morning tea held this week.

Leo Demer, CEO of JLT Australia, said that the scholarship was a fitting memorial for a man who was commited to developing emerging talent throughout the industry.
"We were extremely impressed with the calibre of the submissions from all parts of the business,” Demer said.

“It is great to see such an amazing depth of talent within the JLT Australia and New Zealand. We are proud to continue the work of Stephen Ball in his honour in supporting emerging talent within the insurance industry.”

Ball’s widow Maureen Ball, said it was an honour to support the next generation of insurance leaders.

“What an honour it is to be supporting the next generation of leaders and how impressive that you have such clarity around the progression of your careers,” Ball said.

Ball was chairman of JLT Australia when he passed away on a trip to the United Kingdom in May 2015.

A former NIBA president, it was announced in February that the association would rename its broker of the year award in honour of Ball as the award will be sponsored by QBE.
