Insurer's charitable arm launches grants program

Catholic Church Insurance (CCI) seeks to help the most marginalised in society and make a positive impact in the Australian community through the Small Grants Program, launched through its new charitable foundation, CCI Giving.

The Small Grants Program will offer grants of up to $5,000 – and, on occasion, up to $10,000 to support small capital-works initiatives – to help organisations better respond to the needs of local communities. Small grants are capped at $150,000 annually.

“We’re stepping up to promote compassion and generosity, and create change on a greater scale,” said Roberto Scenna, CEO at CCI. “That’s why we’re working with Catholic organisations and charities, staff, and CCI clients to achieve positive social impact for disadvantaged and marginalised communities and make future generations proud.”

The program, the first of CCI Giving's three funding streams, is focused on supporting small community organisations, social enterprises, and initiatives, particularly those working on a local level with young people experiencing educational disadvantage; refugees and people seeking asylum; families affected by mental illness; or those affected by domestic violence.

CCI Giving is now accepting applications for the Small Grants Program, with the closing date for applications set on Feb. 9. The first round of grants will be announced in April.
