International brokerage Gallagher is paying its respects to an award-winning broker, after he sadly passed away following a long battle with illness.
Stewart Cox, who was the regional leader of Gallagher’s Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs branches, was remembered as a remarkable leader by CEO Sarah Lyons.
“Stewart was one of the most remarkable leaders I have ever met,” she said. “Aside from being a strong advocate of Gallagher, Stewart built an enviable reputation in the Northern Territory for his unswerving commitment to the local business community and doing the right thing by clients.”
Among his many achievements, Cox was named ‘Senior Broker of the Year’ at the 2017 Northern Territory Insurance Award and was recognised by the Order of Australia for services to the community of the Northern Territory through a range of sporting and civic organisations, as well as the insurance industry.
“He was a trusted and admired colleague who helped many of the next generation of brokers take their first steps into the industry and was a guiding force for those looking for a mentor and trusted counsel,” said Lyons.
“He was generous with his time and advice, and the ability to benefit from his deep industry experience,” she continued. “His straight-talking approach won the respect of many, including myself.”
Stewart Cox passed away on November 21, 2018.
“Our thoughts are with Stewart’s wife and family at this difficult time,” added Lyons.
