“It is a great loss.”
Those were the words of Oracle Group Insurance Brokers director Jane Martin following the passing of industry veteran John Jenner, who died at age 81 after a long battle with cancer.
The former HMAS Melbourne Lieutenant Commander and HMS Collingwood Royal Navy Lieutenant had a vast career spanning the Navy, information technology, marketing, and insurance broking.
Described as “the ultimate entrepreneur,” Jenner’s credentials included time spent at Marsh Advantage and NAS Insurance Brokers. Before partnering with Oracle Group Insurance Brokers, he was previously affiliated with Community Broker Network (CBN).
CBN chief executive Richard Crawford told Insurance Business: “It was with great sadness we learned of John’s passing. John was a foundation member of the CBN community having been a NAS AR (authorised representative) and was part of our community for over 10 years.”

“A very strong intellect, John participated actively in community life, took on the role of educator to our members, and also lectured to college students on the subjects of business and insurance,” noted Crawford. “We are all very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside him.”
Survived by his wife Julianne and sons Alexander, Benjamin, and Sebastian, Jenner recently sold his portfolio to the Victorian division of Oracle Group Insurance Brokers.
“Mr Jenner would be sadly missed by all who knew him,” said Martin, speaking with Insurance Business. “We are deeply saddened by John’s passing, and he is nothing short of a true gentleman in this industry. It is a great loss.
“He fought his illness courageously, and we are all better off for having worked with him over his many years in the industry – he has left a lasting contribution.”
