Insurance and care service provider icare has announced a new mentor partnership.

Carers NSW will join forces with the insurer to deliver two new carer support programs for families and carers in the state which is set to benefit families and carers of those who have sustained serious injuries in a workplace accident or on the roads.

The icare Families and icare Kids & Young People programs will be modelled on support services currently used in the brain injury and dementia market and will commence in January 2017.

Don Ferguson, icare EGM, Care, said that the new programs highlight the customer centricity of the organisation.

“We are always looking at new ways to provide individualised services to our customers,” Ferguson said.

“The icare programs are referral-based and provide professional mentoring and counselling support for approximately 400 carers and families of our care scheme customers.

“We will deliver them in the communities people live in and not in a group or hospital environment.”

The icare Families program will consist of 6 face-to-face mentoring programs with a Carers NSW mentor alongside assistance to the carer to establish connections to other support services.

The Kids & Young People program will give access to a dedicated Carers NSW youth worker for young people aged up to 25.
