The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has announced the appointment of two new directors at the ICA board meeting and annual general meeting held in Sydney last week.
The ICA board is joined by Tim Plant, general insurance CEO at Zurich Financial Services Australia, and John Myler, insurance CEO at the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland. This takes its number of directors to 13.
Plant and Myler “have a combined 45 years of insurance industry experience,” said Rob Whelan, ICA executive director and CEO. “John has held executive roles at Allianz, Customer Essential, and Royal & Sun Alliance. Tim’s experience crosses insurance, reinsurance, and financial services. Tim is also a director of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance. The ICA board is looking forward to utilising their expertise, knowledge, and perspective to help shape the ICA’s response to the regulatory, political, and climate change challenges facing the insurance industry.”
The ICA board also ratified the applications of four new members: LFI Group, PetSure, Arch LMI, and Pacific International Insurance. The peak industry body now has 54 members, representing 96% of total premium income written by private-sector general insurers.
