Insurance Australia Group (IAG) has announced that it is “all hands on deck” to support customers who were impacted by the recent catastrophic hailstorms that lashed Queensland, Victoria, NSW, and ACT.
Australia’s largest general insurer said it has so far received more than 28,000 claims across its brands, including NRMA Insurance, CGU, RACV, and WFI. It has urged impacted customers whose vehicles or homes have been damaged to lodge their claim ASAP.
“For our customers with damage to their home, our priority is ensuring their safety, and our teams are on the ground helping those customers,” said Luke Gallagher, IAG executive general manager of claims. “We have builders ensuring our customers’ properties are safe and secure and will contact them to book in property assessments, so repairs can begin as soon as possible. We can also arrange emergency accommodation until repairs are completed.”
IAG said it has hail repair centres set up in NSW, ACT, and Victoria to triage damaged vehicles and arrange repairs. Its partnered glaziers are also on site at the centres to replace damaged glass to keep customers on the road until the hail damage can be repaired.
