An IAG leader has been appointed to head the insurance giant’s newly created strategy and innovation division, which combines its existing strategy function with its customer labs division.
Julie Batch, previously IAG’s chief customer officer, will commence as chief strategy and innovation officer on Feb. 24, with the remit for enhancing customer experience using data and insights, as well as digital, innovation, new business incubation, and venturing.
In addition, Neil Morgan, IAG group executive technology, has been tasked to lead an expanded technology and digital division. This unit brings together the digital teams from Australia and New Zealand, including those previously part of Customer Labs, and the existing group technology team.
Peter Harmer, IAG managing director and CEO, said the operating model changes are a logical step towards the next phase of IAG’s strategy, which focuses more on the future growth for its core insurance business and adjacent business opportunities.
“We continue to evolve our operating model to better align our customer and corporate strategies and further foster a culture of innovation as we consider and create new and different services for our customers,” Harmer said.
IAG said it will report its 1H20 results on Feb. 12.
