Honan Insurance Group (Honan) has backed the return of The Design Files' Kids Art Awards to Australia this year to celebrate kids' creativity.
The Design Files is Australia's most popular blog, covering Australian homes, gardens, art, architecture, craft, interior design, furniture, textiles, homeware, and food, among others. The Design Files Kids Art Awards 2022 is a national art awards program recognising kids' creativity and supporting Children's Ground, a not-for-profit charity creating change within First Nations communities.
Now in its second year, the program will be presented by Honan alongside The Design Files' supporting partners Gro-To, Birkenstock, and the Mercedes-Benz V-Class. It will award prizes to five talented young Australian artists aged up to 16 who will create an A4-sized, two-dimensional artwork in any medium, inspired by this year's theme: Home.
An expert judging panel of Australian artists, including iconic Australian artist Ken Done, award-winning Melbourne-based illustrator and artist Beci Orpin, and artist and Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay/Gummaroi man and artist Reko Rennie will select the five winners, each receiving a $1,000 cash prize.

The Design Files founder and editor Lucy Feagins explained that The Design Files established the program in partnership with Honan to inspire a creative outlet for families and children across Australia.
“It's super easy to get involved, and the prizes are huge! We also feel very lucky to have an opportunity to use this program to raise funds and awareness for Children's Ground, an indigenous-led children's charity we have long admired,” Feagins added.
Commenting on presenting the program for the second time, Honan CEO Andrew Fluitsma said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with The Design Files again for this year's Kids Art Awards. After another difficult year, we didn't hesitate to support this brilliant initiative that not only encourages kids to have fun and be creative but also helps raise much-needed funds and awareness for Children's Ground.
“Last year, we were overwhelmed by the creativity shown in the incredibly impressive artworks that were submitted by all age groups, and so we are really looking forward to seeing what this year's theme inspires.”
Entries are open from April 04 to April 24, with the winners announced by The Design Files on May 07, 2022.
