An Ohio-based provider of auto, home, life, and business insurance protection has become the third insurance carrier to offer an Alexa skill on Amazon’s Alexa-enabled devices.

Grange Insurance has launched Grange Insurance skill on Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service, allowing its consumers to have hands-free access to finding a local independent Grange insurance agent, hearing an insurance tip of the day, or learning about general information about the insurer’s home, auto, business, and life insurance products, Business Wire reported.

Alexa, a cloud-based, voice-controlled virtual assistant similar to Apple’s Siri or Google Now, enables users of Amazon products, such as the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot, to carry out a range of tasks such as asking questions, playing music, hearing the news and weather, and even controlling smart home devices.

“The Grange Insurance Skill was created to allow our independent agents and policyholders to interact with Grange in a brand new, convenient way,” said Tim Cunningham, Grange Insurance VP, chief information officer. “It’s easy and intuitive to use, and it will help our independent agents and policyholders when they multitask inside their homes and offices. Now, they can just ask Alexa and hear important information about Grange Insurance.”

Amazon, Inc. launched the Alexa Skills Kit and Alexa Voice Service in 2015 and now has over 3,000 skills available, the report said.
