Senior Canberra-based lawyer Scott Moloney has joined Moray & Agnew after a stint at the government and administrative law practice of another national law firm.
Special Counsel, Moloney’s government experience includes defending judicial review and merits review applications and common law claims
He also provided advice on administrative law issues, statutory interpretation and discretionary compensation mechanisms to a wide range of Commonwealth departments and agencies including Comcover, the Australian Taxation Office, and the Commonwealth workers’ compensation insurer, Comcare.
Throughout his career, Moloney has completed several senior-level secondments with government clients, giving him a unique perspective into legal issues commonly faced by government decision makers and the opportunity to develop practical, cost effective, results driven advice and strategies to help resolve such issues.
Moloney is also a legal officer in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve and regularly provides advice to Command and Australian Defence Force members in relation to a wide range of legal issues including administrative inquiries, Freedom of Information applications, Privacy Act issues, legislative projects and criminal law proceedings.
His appointment is in line with Moray & Agnew’s strategy to strengthen its position as a leading provider of legal services to the federal government.
