Insurance and reinsurance broking group Cooper Gay will launch a wholesale intermediary in Australia this year, Insurance Business understands.
The brokerage is understood to have contacted brokers hinting at plans to launch an offering this year. An email to brokers from the group says: “2014. The year Australia welcomes a new wholesale broker with Lloyd’s and global markets access”.
It also encourages brokers to arrange a call back with head of wholesale Jonathan Hyde.
Cooper Gay website says, under the ‘wholesale’ section on its group website, that “whether its client is an insurer, managing general agent or retail broker, it can provide competitive products, innovative coverage and pricing that will complement their risk management portfolio”.
It adds that it also designs and places bespoke programmes in hi-tech, life sciences, accident & health, and emerging technology.
The Cooper Gay website states that the Australian team “are specialists in programme design and risk transfer in all classes of business including property, energy, liability, construction, marine and financial lines”.
Brokers have told Insurance Business that they hope the group will find cover for hard-to-place risks.
Cooper Gay Australia MD Jon Calverley was unavailable for comment as this story went to press.
