Australian insurance sector law firm Gilchrist Connell (GC) has promoted two lawyers to principal, effective July 1.
Lotta Noel, who is based in Perth, joined GC as a special counsel in 2021. She has defended litigated and non-litigated compulsory third-party claims of various sizes and complexities.
Noel has also assessed complex large loss claims involving catastrophic injury, fatal accident claims, and claims where liability is in issue.
Her appointment brings the number of principals at the law firm to 39.
Brisbane-based Jacob Redden was also promoted to principal, having been with the firm since 2013. He has defended professional indemnity claims and injury liability for engineers and builders.
He also has experience in workplace relations, work health and safety obligations, litigated employment disputes, management and governance liability, as well as sports law.
In a statement, GC managing principal Richard Wood said that one of the best parts of the job is to watch “good people fulfill their potential” within the firm.
“Lotta and Jacob are highly respected by their clients and their colleagues, and we are thrilled to welcome them to our partnership,” Wood said.
The moves follow the announcement of new special counsels in Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, as well as the joining of three senior lawyers for GC’s national liability practice in Sydney.
