Gallagher Bassett has teamed up with Jodi Lee Foundation to address Australia's second biggest cancer killer – bowel cancer.
The tie-up, part of GB's growing health and wellbeing program, GB Wellness, encourages people to BEAT bowel cancer: Be healthy and active; Explore family history; Act on symptoms; and Take a screening test, to reduce the risk of bowel cancer and improve overall health and wellbeing.
In Australia, bowel cancer claims a life every two hours – or more than 4,000 each year. And while most people diagnosed with bowel cancer are aged 50 and over, the silent killer affects young people, too, with 9% of those diagnosed being under 50.
“The good news is up to 90% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated or even prevented if detected early, which is why screening is so important,” GB said.
To ensure that every GB employee participates in the prevention program, the claims services provider is contributing majority of the cost of a bowel screening test for its staff.
