Gallagher Bassett has been tasked to create and manage a health and well-being program (HWBP) for Tasmania Department of Fire, Emergency Services and Ambulance employees (DPFEM), with Simon Wilson, general manager of consulting services for GB Australia, appointed to lead the implementation.

“GB is a trusted partner to emergency service organisations around Australia and we’re thrilled to be expanding this through our new partnership with the Tasmanian Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management and Ambulance Tasmania,” said John McNamara, GB Australia CEO.

As the exclusive provider of HWBP to all emergency services in Tasmania, GB will create a bespoke HWBP launchpad, appoint a dedicated operational manager and account manager to implement and manage the program for the term of the contract, provide services including online physical HWBP screens, online mental HWB screens, online cancer and lung capacity screens, and host online and workshop education programs.

“We have designed the new service to support both our employed and volunteer emergency responders,” said Michael Ferguson, Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management. “We are investing in the growth of our proactive and preventative Health and Wellbeing Program with a $6 million investment that supports our emergency services personnel across the services.”

GB said it intends to employ Tasmanians as part of the team and will partner with national workplace rehabilitation provider Rehab Management.
