Gallagher Bassett’s Shaun Meehan will participate in a seven-day cycle tour to help raise funds for research to improve the treatment of persistent chronic pain as well as raise awareness of the impacts of persistent pain on society.
Meehan, GB’s general manager for SA, will participate in the Pain Revolution Ride, which will take place from March 16-23 in Tasmania. This is her third year of participation in the event.
Seminars will be held at rural centres along the route to educate Tasmanians about how to prevent and overcome persistent pain and discuss the latest discoveries about this massive health problem.
“Having worked in the personal injury industry for the past 20 years, it is very evident to me that persistent pain has significant impacts on individuals, as well as on our broader society,” Meehan said. “Many of the injured workers we help to remain in, or return to work, endure persistent pain, which in many cases has significant impacts on their lives and those of their families. New techniques in the treatment and management of pain would not only enormously benefit those directly affected, it would also benefit their families and the greater community. It’s for these reasons I am passionate about supporting research into and education about the better treatment of pain.”
