A Gallagher broker has not just successfully completed his 24hr treadmill challenge in support of Suicide Prevention Australia, he has also topped the charts for his individual fundraising efforts.
With more than $250,000 raised across the country, Tim Hardy’s $4,800 effort represents the highest amount raised by an individual after completing the challenge last week.
“The first target I set was $750, because I only had two weeks to raise some funds and we exceeded that on our first day – so, we set a revised one of $1,500 and that was exceeded in the second day then it blew up,” Hardy said. “The amount of support, especially from the Gallagher network that I got was incredible. I had so many emails and LinkedIn messages from Gallagher worldwide, offering me support, telling me about their stories and asking where they could get help so that reinforced how important it is to get the message out there.”
On the day, Hardy spent a total of 17 hours and clocked up around 80km on the treadmill as he and four others based at Canberra’s Anytime Fitness managed to have at least one person on the treadmill continuously for the entire challenge.
Hardy’s advocacy will also see him present in front of the health minister and friends of parliament, on behalf of Suicide Prevention Australia later this month.
