NSW insurer icare has announced the finalists for the 2018 Insurance for NSW Conference and Awards, which recognise excellence in innovation and leadership in risk management and prevention.
Britt Coombe, icare’s general manager for risk advisory and client engagement, said the Insurance for NSW Conference and Awards serve as a “platform for NSW government agencies to share experiences,” so “we can learn from the outstanding work of our peers and lift risk management and workplace safety outcomes across the board.”
The finalists for the different award categories are as follows:
Risk frameworks, systems, and processes: STRETCH by Department of Education with Allianz Australia, Harm Reduction Strategies in NSW Prisons by the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network, Risk Management Framework and Policy by Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Video Case Conference Throughout Regional NSW by Northern NSW Local Health District with QBE Insurance, Progressive Goal Attainment Program by NSW Health with EML, Psychological Claims Management Framework by NSW Police Force with EML, and Palliative Care Home Support (PEACH) Program by South Western Sydney Local Health District.
General-claims risk-innovation: Supporting You by Department of Education, The Impact of Exercise Rehabilitation Therapy on Mental Health by NSW Ambulance with QBE, Motivational Interactions by NSW Health with EML, and Improving motor vehicle repair systems and processes by South Western Sydney Local Health District.
Risk reporting and intelligence: District Injury Management Report by North Sydney Local Health District with QBE, SPC Traffic Lights: Stop on Green and Go on Red by Northern Sydney Local Health District, and Non-government organisation framework by South Western Sydney Local Health District.
Steve Hunt Award (Excellence in Prevention): Sustaining Resilience at Work StRaW by Corrective Services with QBE, Achieving risk prevention with 65,000 inspections for loose-fill asbestos by Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, High risk drug examinations: Development and implementation of a new examination process by Forensic and Analytical Science Service, NSW Health Pathology, Electric wheelchairs as patient transport by Hornsby Hospital, Northern Sydney LHD, Psychological Partnership Journey by Hunter New England Local Health District with QBE, The Managers role in the proactive risk management of workplace issues by NSW Health, BPTOK, an innovative approach to physician burnout and suicide epidemic by Sydney Local Health District, and A Healthier You by Sydney Water with Allianz Australia.
Risk leadership: South Western Sydney Local Health District's Linda Campbell, Department of Industry's Kyleah Hayes, NSW Police Force's Michael Ingram, NSW Health's Michele Murphy, Sydney Water's Terry Natsia, Western Sydney Local Health District's Kim Paull, Department of Planning and Environment's Marcus Turner, and Jorida Zeneli of NSW Treasury.
The award winners will be announced on Sept. 12 at the Sydney International Convention Centre.
